Everyone is welcome.
Change can be both exciting and disturbing. For spouses of students and international scholars, adjusting to their new lives can be especially challenging. All have left family, friends, and familiar surroundings. Many face the difficulties of communicating in a new language. Many have interrupted careers that were a source of pride and stimulation. Many feel isolated and alone.
The International Women’s Group brings Tallahassee women together with international women to help them meet the challenges of their new life and to make their U.S. experience a rewarding one. At bimonthly meetings (usually held at the International Center or community member homes), members participate in discussions, demonstrations, and often share delicious food from many lands. The meetings are held in various locations...at the International Center a variety of interesting places in Tallahassee and in homes that Tallahassee community members open up as to welcome their new friends from all over the world. Children of all ages and guests are always welcome. Fluency in English is not required. In fact, the meetings offer an opportunity to practice. Children of any age are welcome.
To become a member, call the Campus & Community Programs office at (850) 645-1324 or send email to ic-programs@admin.fsu.edu. Both international and U.S. women are invited to participate.
